The Tale of the Dogstone

Among the beautiful and rugged landscapes of the Scottish Highlands lies an unassuming village near Loch Leven called Glencoe. It is a place bald in natural beauty, but not short of myths and legends, the most memorable one being the tale of the Dogstone, or Clach-Na-Coin. Located on the side of the main road just outside the village of Glencoe, a large stone can be found, rumored to hold the power to transform ordinary men into bloodthirsty beasts. According to local lore, this intimidating, yet intriguing, stone has a deep-rooted association with the world of the supernatural. The legend goes that if you touch the stone under a full moon, you will turn into a werewolf. The Dogstone was supposedly the transformation spot for the last recorded werewolf in the United Kingdom. The villagers lived in fear, as once every month, with the rise of the full moon, a killing spree would shake their peace. Until one courageous shepherd, armed with a silver bullet, engaged the wolf in a deadly encounter and managed to kill it. The day after, the lifeless body of a local man was found. Since that night, peace returned to Glencoe, and the Dog Stone was left undisturbed. Yet, the villagers still uphold the tale of the Dog Stone with a sense of awe and respect. For visitors willing to tempt supernatural fate, a touch of the Dogstone under the moonlight might make for an unforgettable tale! The village of Glencoe continues to attract adventurers from all over the world, not only for its stunning landscapes, but also for its rich folklore. The Dogstone is yet another reason why Glencoe remains an irresistible destination for seekers of mystery and legend.
