The Spooky Abode Of The Isle Of Dogs

The Isle of Dogs, known today for its bustling financial district, Canary Wharf, was once the site of marshland and ship builders in the 1800s. Yet, hidden amongst the masts and yards was something far more sinister – the haunted house of Millwall. The story tells of a builder, who relocated from North England to escape the haunting of his previous home, only to inadvertently bring the spirit with him. A new house was built, intended to start a fresh life, but it wasn’t long before the specter made its presence known. The builders’ family began seeing apparitions and hearing eerie noises. The apparition, known as ‘Silk Weavers Ghost,’ was thought to be the spirit of a French weaver who relocated to Britain during the French Revolution. He was said to have died under mysterious circumstances, and it was rumored that he was betrayed by his British collaborators. Pets and livestock started dying mysteriously, and any inhabitants of the house got sick or met with fatal accidents. The home became vacant quickly as the word got out about the phenomenons occurring in the builder’s home. These reports became the stuff of legend, and to this day, it is said that mysterious sights and sounds can be heard on a quiet night around the area of the old house, which has long since made way for modern buildings. Passersby have reported seeing a shadowy figure standing by the windows of the new buildings, peering into the city he witnessed drastically change over all these centuries.
