The Hairy Hands of Dartmoor

Near the peaceful yet enigmatic settings of Dartmoor, an eerie legend has dwelled for over a century, causing shivers down the spine of even the bravest hearts. This is the chilling tale of the Hairy Hands of Dartmoor. The legend originated around the post-WWI era when a strange pattern of fatal accidents began on a strip of road known as the ‘B3212’. Witnesses and survivors reported that their vehicles had been jolted off track or steering wheels had been yanked out of control. The inexplicability of these accidents birthed a frightening speculation: the presence of a paranormal entity, which came to be known as the ‘Hairy Hands’. Drivers reported feeling a pair of gruesome, hairy, and powerful hands suddenly taking control of their steering, forcing them off the road. Even cyclists and motorcyclists weren’t spared. The terror reached its peak when a woman camping near the road reported waking up to see a grotesque pair of hands crawling up the outside of her window. She hastily prayed and the hands retreated, thus popularizing a defence against this ghostly menace. Though skeptics claim these incidents were the results of narrow lanes, poor visibility, and difficult turns, the locals firmly believe in this gruesome legend. The tale of the Hairy Hands serves as an eerie reminder of the inexplicable corners of our world, where myth and reality often intertwine in an unsettling dance.
